One in six people in America face hunger but 40% of food is thrown out in the US every year that is worth $165 billion. All of this uneaten food could feed up to 25 million Americans.
Lunch On Me is a Los Angeles based non- profit dedicated to ending starvation in LA’s homeless community. Founded by Larayia Gaston LOM brings nutritious and organic meals six days a week to 10,000 people a month. Volunteers play an integral role in food pickups to food redistribution. Organic food that would otherwise be wasted is redistributed and delicious quality meals re-created.
With the help of various partners and affiliates, LOM has grown from serving 500 meals a month to 10,000. TV9 CEO Ravi Prakash joined the movement as an Executive Sponsor and has been feeding LA’s homeless people. Ravi Prakash Foundation founded in 2017 is committed for making a change in society by supporting the cause of education and health.
As part of its corporate social responsibility TV9 channel has always supported numerous causes over the years. TV9 believes in the emancipation of the homeless. Through the telecast of stories and promos in the US time band TV9 has been bringing forth stories of how the Indian Telugu diaspora in the US has been providing shelter and feeding the homeless through donations.
Lunch On Me not only provides free meals but also opportunities to enrich the mind, body, and spirit by organizing weekly yoga healing classes for homeless men and women.
